The Carroll County Adult Education Program joined the Mt. Rogers Regional Adult Education Program in July 2012.  In July 2013, the Adult Center moved from Woodlawn to the lower level of the Regional Alternative Education (RAE) Center in Hillsville. Some older residents in the area remember this building as the old Hillsville Elem. School.  The Adult Center offers the same classes it offered in Woodlawn. A student may study for the GED test, study to improve basic skills in English, math, science, social studies, and writing. A Wytheville Community College student may take developmental classes here to transfer to WCC. These include MTE 1 - 9.  Adults may also learn the basic skills in using the computer or speciality skills in Microsoft Office Programs.

The Mt. Rogers Region includes the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe as well as the cities of Galax and Bristol.
