The Carroll County Adult Education Program joined the Mt. Rogers Regional Adult Education Program in July 2012.  In July 2013, the Adult Center moved from Woodlawn to the lower level of the Regional Alternative Education (RAE) Center in Hillsville. Some older residents in the area remember this building as the old Hillsville Elementary School.

A student may study for the GED test, take official practice GED tests (GED Ready), or study to improve basic skills in English, math, science, social studies, and writing.  Adults may study and review prior to taking college placement tests.  Once accepted into Wytheville Community College, a student may take developmental classes here if they are needed. These include MTE 1 - 9.  Adults may also learn the basic skills in using the computer or specialty skills in Microsoft Office Programs. We are now offering programs to prepare for the tests for Career Readiness Certificates (CRC) which many employers are now requiring.

The Mt. Rogers Region includes the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe as well as the cities of Galax and Bristol.
