The Hillsville Site Class has now become the site of the Carroll Adult Education Program, so it isn't considered a site class anymore. Students may study for the GED Test as well as take free Official Practice GED Tests. If the students score 450 or above on the Official Practice Tests, they will be given a voucher to take the actual GED Test free of charge. This can add up to as much as a $58.00 savings. Adults may also work on improving basic educational skills, including reading, writing, science, social studies, math, or computer skills. Students who plan to attend college can work on developing math and English skills before taking the placement tests.
Day classes meet in Room 104 on the lower level of the RAE Center. Morning classes are on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until 12 noon, and in the afternoons on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 noon until 3:00 P.M. The instructor for the day classes is Juanita Bowers.
The evening classes meet on Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. in room 104. Adults may join this class any class night. Instruction is individualized, so that the student sets his own pace and determines what he wants to study.
The instructors for the evening classes are Margie Quesenberry, Jude Raffeinner, and Hilda Tate.
